Basketball fun

I enjoy the change of sports seasons. Football is definately my favorite sport to watch. However, in basketball you get a few more facial expressions that can be seen easier.

Police vs Fire/EMS for a good cause!

The area police faced the fire/ems personnel in a full on tackle game for a good cause last night. I bundled up three times over to brave the cold wind. I had on a pair of sweats, a pair of windpants, my daddy's overalls and three shirts! Good news, I didn't freeze but I was still COLD!
The police edged out the fight after four quarters of the cold chill in full gear. Some of the guys I've photographed in years passed during their high school careers. It was fun to watch and it was definately for a good cause.

It all started with a bribe though, the fire guys brought the police boys donuts at midfield just before the coin flip!

This is a fire captain who had to punt after four downs.

The lawmen ran from the firefighters tackles and pulled out a win!

Christmas Parades

I photographed two Christmas Parades in a week's time. My son accompanied me and watched the first one. He had a good time watching all the bands and floats pass by.

It was cold but he had a good time!

He did get tired of standing... there were way too many gaps in the parade. He sat on Grandma's shoes cause the pavement was soo cold!

The second parade, Squirt was there to but he got to ride the Fire Truck!

He was a very excited little boy!

This dude ranks right up there with Uncle Bubba now cause he's the one that got him the fancy ride!

Wonderous Sunset

This is the sunset on 12/3/09
I love the sky!

Visits to Santa

We took both kids to see Santa before Thanksgiving at Bass Pro. It was The Princess's first ever visit and Squirt's first visit of the season.
Squirt has said all along that he wants a Rocky The Robot Truck.
He came up with it all on his own, no suggestions or questions from momma.

This was just before the first Christmas Parade we attended this year. He told Santa again that ALL he wants is a Rocky the Robot Truck.

This was after the second parade, after Squirt's big ride in a firetruck (more on that later). I get very few pictures of Squirt with his eyes CLOSED, but the one time I've got only one shot at it... that's all I get!

Decorating for Christmas

Thanksgiving was a busy weekend in my house hold. I left for Mikes Wednesday evening and as soon as I got there began making my first EVER batch of homemade rolls, my grandmother's recipe. It didn't turn out so well. I figured out shortly after I put them in the oven that I should have let them rise one more time AND I didn't need as much flour as I put in. So... as the HARD BISCUITS cooled I started my second batch EVER of homemade rolls. I stayed up until nearly midnight and they were no where near my GRANDMA's rolls but they were at least edible.
The next morning, Thanksgiving, I loaded everything in the van to take to Mike's moms while he was helping his uncle hook up a television. The plan was prepare the meal, eat and clean up at his moms, then head to my grandma's around 230.... That didn't got as planned.
I baked snickerdoodles and helped finish the main meal preparations at his Moms. We had a pretty good dinner with plenty left overs. I helped clean up but we wound up staying a little longer than I had hoped.
We finally got to my grandma's as they were pulling out left overs and we really didn't get to stay very long but had a good time laughing and visiting.
We drove back to Mike... we live about 45 minutes apart, that night with the plan of hitting the black friday sales. He decided he wanted to shop for the toys and was going to Toys R Us at midnight while I stayed home with the Princess, she had a big day and was sleeping rather soundly. He lasted 10 minutes, didn't even get out of the truck.... WUSS! I've been black friday shopping for the last few years and knew exactly what to expect. Sooo... we didn't get to shopping until nearly 10. It was then I learned that money I was waiting on had come in but I had to meet up back at my house to get it, 45 min trip number 4 in less than 36 hours.
After running EVERYWHERE. I finally picked my son up, he stayed at papa's with the idea that I would be early morning black friday shopping (wrong) and my money picked up as well.
We then went to Walmart and got A LOT of my Christmas shopping done and much of Mike's too. We were able to sneak Squirt's big gift in one basket covered with clothing so he didn't see it. Papa and Grandma showed up at Walmart and took Squirt with them so I could actually get it paid for and out the door without him seeing him.
We then had to start 45 min treck number 5 to Mike's to pick up his truck and get some items for him and The Princess.
Squirt helped us pick out a new tree at Walmart and was SOO excited and wanted to help decorate it. He actually called me as I was heading back to my house (treck 6).
"Momma," he says to me over the phone. "You can't do the tree yet, I'm helping Papa." I asked him what he meant. "You can't put the tree up Momma!!! I'm not there yet!!!"
I assured him I wouldn't start the decorating process without him and he was good.
"Bye, Love You See Ya Later!"

He waited ever so patiently to start the decorating... he really did!

Squirt picked out the star, my first lighted star since moving out of my parents house.

He liked the colors.

Uncle Bubba helped him put it on top.

Of course it wouldn't be OUR Christmas tree without SEVERAL John Deere Tractors!

Finished product.
Squirt wanted grandma to help him hold the Princess and sing her to sleep!

Squirt's such a goober and wanted to try on his stocking.

Thanksgiving feast

My church has been feeding the people every Thursday for free since April. Anyone can walk in however the choose and get a good home cooked meal. It is good. They've served everything from grilled hamburgers to lasagna. Thanksgiving was no different. Church members, men included peeled and peeled and peeled potatoes while several turkeys were cooking in ovens all over town. I think mom said they fed 80 people that night a traditional Thanksgiving feast. The last few weeks nearly 200 have been served on a weekly basis. The church feels their mission is needed and is fullfilling that need.

Seedling shedding

Maples pop up everywhere. This year I grabbed a seedling out of my flower bed and instead of just discarding it I put it in a pot. It has grown all summer and like every other tree has changed colors and shed. I'll plant it in my back yard in the spring. I did the same thing last year. At least then it will grow where I want it to and not in my flower bed.

The Card

I didn't have time to design one like I did for Mike and like I've done in the past so I just used an mpix template. Didn't think they turned out too bad.

Christmas Card Shoot

I took Squirt out a while back just before Thanksgiving to get some shots for a Christmas Card.

He's such a ham!!!
