Founders Day

This week hasn't been the easiest for me, but hey life's not easy. Life is meant to be a challenge. The ride wouldn't be near as fun either if there weren't hills and valleys.
I learned that even a decade past high school doesn't guarantee the absence of immaturity and cowardice. Everything happens for a reason though. I'm content with my life and will absolutely strive to be the best mom and provide for Squirt in the best way I know how.
I went to a local Founder's Day today. The day was filled with all sorts of events including a parade, car show, and a benefit softball tournaments. Area firefighters and police officers picked up bats to raise money for the local DHS Foster Care program.
I got a little sun and will show up bright eyed bushy tailed and red faced for Mother's Day Sunday Service in the morning!
The cars above are a couple of my favorites. Other than these cars being classics and ultimately cool cars I don't know much more about them. I did really like the front tag on the top one. How can this girl not pick out the John Deere in the smallest of places. The second one makes me think of "Greased Lightening."
We'll be posting more photos from Founder's Day soon http://www.snapshotmoms.com/

Roasting Marshmallows

We actually had some rain this weekend. We needed it, but it did rain on our family get together. I had a pretty busy weekend that started with a portrait shoot Friday night. Saturday morning I got up to shoot a track meet. My cousin qualified for state in the high jump! After I met up with Squirt and the rest of the big family for a get together and dinner. We tend to get together and eat and catch up once a month. With 20+ cousins and soon-to-be 10 great-grandkids, its hard to keep up. Not everyone can make it every time but we try. After dinner Squirt enjoyed helping Papa roast marshmallows.
He worked cattle a lot of the day with Papa, then played hard with cousins, and then got sugared up on roasted marshmallows. Did I mention he didn't have much of a nap ALL day... 20 minutes tops!!
I washed the marshmallows from his face and hands and oh behind his ears before loading him up to take him home. He was tired and cranky and wanted to stay with Papa. He wined for Grandma and Papa for a few miles as he got quieter and quieter. He almost made it half way home before crashing!!!
