Go ahead.....

"Go Ahead
Push Me Around
But You Ought
to Know My
Grandma's the
Biggest Baddest
Meanest
LADY
in Town"

That's what Squirt's shirt says. His great-aunt found it along with several other clothes from when her son was Squirt's size. I'm very thankful she found the clothes she did, even if her son's now 16 which means she's kept those clothes for ummmm.... well that just makes me feel old so we won't discuss the exact number of years the clothes have been stored away, waiting for Squirt to wear.

Squirt is always such a ham for momma's camera, it was no surprise, this is the image I get when I say turn and look at mom!

Textures and a weekend of fun

A few weekends ago I was able to get away for a bit. I met some great photographer friends, reconnected with a few acquaintances and learned a lot! There were so many classes I wanted to take in the 48 hours but I couldn't take them all. I have much to look forward to next year. That is unless some amazing people decide to do a meet up more than once a year ;)
The first class I took there was on textures. I had been playing a lot with textures and had read tutorials and blogs to try and figure things out for myself. The class helped me make some sense of what I was doing. It also provided me with several shortcuts and new ideas.
There was so much information thrown at me over the time I was there, I hope I can remember it all and hope to implement some new skills soon.
The last few weeks have been busy and I've felt kind of blah. I did get my house cleaned and caught back up though :D
Squirt's school is winding down. Tomorrow night he's got a school program in which he will let the world know what he wants to be when he grows up..... Spider Man.
Last night we were driving home from mom and dad's and a great song came on the radio. I let him ride the short distance home in the front seat so he learned to dance to the radio in the car. He was so cute! I was snapping to the beat and he can't get that quite down yet but tries so hard!

Engaged

My cousin's getting married. Well, three of them are getting married in as many months!
I had the pleasure to photograph one of the cousn's engagement sessions. This is my favorite so far. I still have a ton to edit through. They are such a beautiful couple. They will be moving to another state after they marry and I'm sure the whole family will miss seeing their smiling faces as often as we'd like.
Here's two more that I like as well.

Different

Ever feel just a little different and out of place? My mom has ONE yellow tulip that seems to be shunned away by the grouping of red tulips. I took this last night.
I know I've felt different and out of place many times. I've always tried to make the best of the situation. I began to realize the older I got the more introverted I became thus putting me in the corner quietly observing others. I love to people watch and enjoy the company of others.
I'm probably going to find myself a tad out of my comfort zone this weekend but I'm really excited about it. I'm hoping to meet great people and friends and learn more than I can soak up about photography!

TGIF & Tulips

TGIF!!!! No seriously TGIF!!!!!
It's been a long week. It's been busy, but not overly so, or at least not the busiest of week's I've had, it just seems LLLOOONNNGG!
I just hope Monday doesn't come screaming in so dang fast! I have a lot to try and get done this weekend. I'm shooting an engagement session tomorrow morning which I'm very very excited about. Tomorrow afternoon my cousin is competing in a track meet so I thought I'd try and catch him in action!
I still need to finish planting my new roses. I have figured out where I'm going to plant them, I really want two more but I'm going to wait for now. I need to mow and clean house as well. Then there's Sunday.... and next thing you know it's Monday again, dang it!!!
There is a bright side though, I am only working four days next week and am very much looking forward to a mini vacation and a chance to meet great photographer friends and learn as much as I can in a 48 hour period!
I'm burning off disks and found these from last weekend.

My tulips after church on Sunday

Blooming

Things are blooming!!!

Maybe it's just me but it seems my redbuds are blooming later this year....
And my Azelas are blooming early!
I have rose fever! I bought five new roses and I'm ready to "Rock & Roll" which just happens to be one of the varities name.

This weekend is stacking up to be a busy one around my house so I'm not sure these will get planted until next week sometime.

I got my mower running thanks to Bubba's help last night! I mowed the yard for the first time this season.

I was actually a bit frustrated yesterday when I got home. My neighorhood is a quiet laid back one for the most part. The house next to mine had an elderly lady living in it when I bought my house. Her children/grandchildren helped care for her and they hired the lawn mowed. It got to where they would mow into MY yard. Normally this wouldnt bother me; but instead of leaving a nice clean line they would just mow however they pleased leaving the yard looking UGLY!

I put up roses as a property barrier. This seemed to help for one mowing, but it was aweful the very next time. I spoke to the son and he spoke to whomever was mowing... problem solved. The elderly lady passed earlier this year and the house is up for sale. I'm not sure if the owner of the property mowed or hired it mowed or if the real estate agency hired the property mowed but they did it again. Now the grass in the front yard isn't as lush and think as it soon will be but it was still evident that it had been mowed and mowed well into my property. I like mowing. When I mow I try to be very curious and if I mow into the neighboring property I make a nice clean straight line. I don't want my roses disturbed and am going to plant more soon. I'm undecided if I should call the real estate agency and ask them to pass on a request not to mow into my yard and to be careful of the roses or just wait and see what happens as the season progresses.

Last day of March

Yesterday was the last day of March. The weather was pretty good yesterday with the exception of the wind. It's blowing in a spring storm! Squirt and I tried to take advantage of the sunshine, despite the wind yesterday.

I love my son. He is defintely the light of my life but lately I feel I have less hair BECAUSE of my son! We seem to be entering a phase of totally not listening to what Momma says. Every time I turn around lately it seems I'm having to be the bad guy, which can be emtionally draining when you are a single parent. I'm hoping this phase doesn't last till I'm bald from pulling every last hair out!

I met with him for lunch and he seemed to be in a better mood so I'm crossing my fingers.

I bought five new roses yesterday. I'm a rose fanatic. I tend to buy at least three new roses each year. I'm not EXACTLY sure what I'm going to do with the roses I bought but I have a pretty good idea. I'm going to take at least one rose that is currently planted in front of my house completely out. I'm loosing hope of overcoming the fungi that seems to be attracted to my favorite hybrid tea. I really hate it because I can't seem to find a that variation of rose. I got something close though so I feel comfortable in replacing it.

Another the house. It's pink. I'm not a pink kinda gal. It really is a pretty rose, it's just pink! I've also fought the dreaded fungus with this bush too. It's over 7 feet tall but it's pink. It's pale pink, girlie girlie pink. I bought a fucia darker pink rose that COULD replace and SHOULD grow just as tall. My green thumb debate this week will be whether to fight the fungi or tear the bush out and replace it.
