We got a pool!!!!!

I was seriously spoiled for 20+ years of my life. My grandparents had a very nice inground pool. I have many many many great memories spending my summer in that pool. This year they decided to fill it in so I'm soo missing my swimming specially with 100+ degree temps outside, and we won't talk about heat indexes.
But my brother bought a soft sided pool! It's only 3 feet deep but it's a way to cool off!

Squirt didn't waste any time dunking Uncle Bubba!

Then he found the water hose. The boy KNOWS how to use it!!!!

Wonderful day ending with a lake sunset

I'm so stinking far behind! Weekend before last we barrowed a boat from my uncle and spent nearly the entire day enjoying it.
I had gone out with Mike the night before and my dad woke me bright and early saying they were going fishing. I got my fishing license, some sinkers and some fishing line before heading to dads. They were pretty much waiting on me when I got there. We went to a lake that you can't swim in because it is a major water source for a large metro area. The fishing is normally pretty good on the lake though, usually. This day it wasn't!!! We had a good time being on the boat. My boy let the waves rock him to sleep!!!

I so love his feet!!!
Later in the afternoon after not catching much of anything we decided to load up, change fishing gear and try jug fishing for catfish. We ate dinner and tried the river. We didn't particularly care for the boat ramp with ME backing the boat in and out. So to a different lake we go.

We sat the jugs out and watched the sun go down!

You can see our jugs, sorta in the lower right hand corner.

We caught ONE catfish!!! Least we had fun!

Zoo was closed but found a splash pad

I had plans to meet with an old friend and her kiddos at the zoo. The one Friday the zoo was closed and we picked it. Apprently they were closed for a "special event." The boys found a splash pad and cooled off.

A birthday dinner

A friend of mine's birthday was Thursday. This friend also happens to be M's mom. His mom has tried to get he and I together for quite some time. Guess the timing finally worked out. Squirt and I joined both M's parents at the Texas Roadhouse. I was proud, Squirt did really pretty good for a 3 year old at a steak house where even the adults were throwing peanut shells on the floor.

Weekend's past and so has the week!

This week really has gone by fast. We had a pretty event filled weekend last weekend, some of which I wouldn't care to repeat EVER again.
Mike came by Thursday evening after Squirt went to bed and hung out on my porch. I really do enjoy his company and like him more the more time we get to spend together!
Friday my partner and I had a Father, son, daughter portrait shoot. It stormed really heavily early in the morning which made for a muggy afternoon for the portraits. We have tried to specialize in action and event photography but we'd like to branch out to portraits. This particular session was more challenging than we'd like to admit to, at least for me it was. The father still hasn't purchased yet. We hope he does soon.
Friday evening Mike cooked steaks on the grill.... twice! I was truely going to try and be nice and eat the RARE steaks he served. Thankfully he was going to put his back on the grill for a bit longer after cutting into them and discovering they were a bit redder than either of us would have liked. So mine got put back on as well.
We hung out and then watched Hangover! Funny but a bit strange.
Saturday morning he came over and helped me haul debris from the previous morning's storm to the dump along with other junk and brush. It was free dump weekend!
That afternoon I went to pick up Squirt from Papa's. He'd gotten a swing set for his birthday and it still hadn't been put together so we decided to try our hand at it.
Squirt and I got on the four wheeler to haul boxes of bolts and swing seats, chains and rope to the backyard where the construction would begin.
Squirt hit the throttle wide open in a hurry and I had to make a split second decision to save him and hopefully us both. I threw him off one side of the four wheeler before I had to crank to the other direction and try to find the break to avoid the house at full speed. I flipped the four wheeler and it wound up on top of me. Dad quickly came to my rescue fearing Squirt was under the four wheeler. I knew this wasn't the case but wasn't sure what shape he was in. He was up before I was and not hardly a scratch on him.
I think I shook for a good solid hour while we started the swing set assembly. I was sore for four days!!!
I'm just counting down the final hour or so of work. We're headed to Texas Roadhouse for Mike's mom's birthday. Looking forward to a good time and great company. Hoping the steaks aren't half bad either.

Squirt helping put togther his swing set!

He then had to bucket water out of his little swimming pool and water Grandma's flowers, well he though he HAD to!

The Flood Revisited

The Daily Times in Pryor had a feature in their Sunday edition. The story featured people's stories of the floods of May 1st. My grandparents had to be evacuated and their story was included in the feature.

If you'll remember these photos are ones I took a few hours after the flood had started to subside and before we could actually get into Grandma's House

My baby's birthday celebration

My baby turns three on Wednesday. We celebarted with burgers, hot dogs, cake and homemade ice cream yesterday.

His Aunt Caroline and Uncle Dan made the cake. They are very talented.

The cake was as good as it looks too. We had to hose down the boy and the chair before he was done!

He absolutely loves his new big boy bike! I had to jog to keep up with him before the night was out. He crashed but I was proud that he got right back on! It was a fight to get him off for bedtime.

He also got a couple of water toys. A sprinkler and a slip and slide. We played with the sprinkler at my grandmother's where whe held the party. We were both partied out by bedtime!

Working at Grandma's

What's up in that tree???

Even Grandpa's Lookin!

It's Uncle Bubba!!!!
We spent Saturday evening helping out around Grandma and Grandpa's house then shared dinner.

There's no way you could get me up there!

Farmer and the crops

A crop of tomotos in my grandma's garden.

Though in overalls aka "Papa Britches" the little farmer was much more interested in blowing bubbles than the plants in the garden.

Fishing Friday

This past Friday M came over with a friend's son to go fishing with Squirt and I. The fish didn't bite much, it was mid day but it was fun to get out. We caught a couple turtles and couple of perch. I caught a pretty good sun burn. Squirt gave up fishing and my mom came and picked him up. We ate at Dutch Pantry which is a Amish buffett for lunch. I had plans to cook meat loaf that evening and did but M and I were both full from lunch. I had a great time hanging out Friday evening on my porch with M. He took his nephews to a motorcross race the next day so he didn't stay very late.
I even got my lawn mowed on Friday so I guess it was a pretty productive day!

Auction and other weekend activities

I had a shorter weekend than what I've become used to. I worked Friday and am normally off work. After I put Squirt to bed and had a friend, who seems to be becoming more than just a friend come over. I'm enjoying his company more and more. We've been friends for a few years now. Friday evening we watched a few movies in the dark so as not to wake Squirt and sat on my porch. I love my porch. Even though I live in town it is a quieter street, when there's not a train going through (I live two blocks from the track). The view is an empty lot with a few trees and a pretty clear view of the sky. It's really nice to sit and watch the stars and breath in the scents of roses and honeysuckle. M and I had a few cold ones as we talked and just genually enjoyed each other's company.

He left around 2 I think and Squirt woke me the rearing to go for the day around 8. Papa, Grandma, Uncle Bubba, Squirt and I all loaded up to go to an estate auction.

I love watching these auctions. They had three auctioneers going at once. I took my camera but apparently it had been left on in the bag and no battery power. I took a pic of Squirt on Uncle Bubba's shoulders with my phone.

It did get a little warm. After we left the auction we traveled to Lowes where Papa bought Grandma a trellis for her rose. Squirt in his "cool dudes" aka sun glasses was also taken via my camera phone. You can't see behind those cool dudes but he's out!! Completely worn out from the day's activities. He and I both took a nap Saturday.

I did buy a couple of items. Above is a single serve glass of milk from a local dairy back in the day. I thought it was pretty neat I don't remember how many ounces it holds but it's not very big. I really found the phone number of the dairy to be interesting. Need to know if the cows have been milked? Call #13!

I've already found good use for it! I also bought a nice glass tea pitcher.
Sunday evening despite having no nap Squirt and I were invited to my friend M's house. We helped him plant flowers. It was good to see that Squirt had fun and didn't drive M batty! M handed Squirt the hose to water the plants we'd just planted. Before it was over, Squirt had watered us all!!!
